Does CoolSculpting® Really Work? Let’s Look at the Facts

Woman in Los Angeles, CA who has received CoolSculpting treatments that worked to eliminate fat

Ever wondered if CoolSculpting is really worth the hype? If you’ve heard about the treatment’s ability to “freeze the fat” and help you slim down without surgery, you probably have questions about how it actually works and whether you’ll really be able to see a difference. At our Torrance med spa, we perform CoolSculpting for people from Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and throughout the Los Angeles region, and we’ve seen some pretty powerful transformations.

Read on to learn more about the science behind CoolSculpting and what kinds of results you can expect when you give it a try.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a nonsurgical fat reduction treatment that uses a process called cryolipolysis to freeze and destroy fat cells. Once destroyed, the body’s fat cells are naturally metabolized to reveal a slimmer, sleeker silhouette. There are no needles, incisions, anesthesia, or downtime involved.

CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment. Rather, it’s a cosmetic body contouring enhancement ideal for reducing those stubborn pockets of fat that resist even your best diet and exercise efforts. Think love handles, a muffin top, banana rolls, and saddlebags.

How does CoolSculpting work?

As mentioned earlier, CoolSculpting works through cryolipolysis. During cryolipolysis, fat cells are exposed to a precisely cooled temperature, causing them they die off. The body naturally flushes out those dead cells over the course of 1 to 3 months. In clinical studies, CoolSculpting reduced subcutaneous fat by up to 20% with just a single treatment.

We deliver this powerful cooling through the CoolSculpting applicator, which we attach right to your targeted treatment area. It feels cold at first, but once the area goes numb, you’ll be able to relax, watch Netflix, or possibly even nap for the rest of your session. Because fat freezes at a higher temperature than other tissues, the treatment doesn’t harm any surrounding skin or muscle. All you’ll likely experience is some redness, tingling, and sensitivity which usually subsides very quickly.

Can you really see a difference before and after CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting isn’t intended to create dramatic, all-over fat reduction results, but the difference is still noticeable in before-and-after photos. You can expect to see any “pooches” or “bulges” reduced for a subtle but effective transformation.

Seeing is believing! Visit our CoolSculpting before-and-after photo gallery to view real results.

CoolSculpting is one of the most popular body contouring procedures in the U.S. and has an 83% “worth it” rating on review site RealSelf. That means 83% of users who tried CoolSculpting felt their results were worth the experience.

Is CoolSculpting right for me?

As we mentioned, CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss procedure. If you’re looking for more dramatic slimming results, you may be a better candidate for liposuction. However, CoolSculpting may be a great fit for you if you’re dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and want to trim localized pockets of fat without surgery or downtime.
