Abdominoplasty, After Massive Weight Loss Before & After Photos

This patient is a 54 year old man with a large ventral hernia after open gastric bypass surgery. He was referred by his General Surgeon.

The patient desired to have his hernia repaired and the excess skin removed at the same time. His was 5ft 10 prior to his gastric bypass and his weight was 404 pounds. His Body Mass Index was 58. His weight at time of his consultation for reconstructive surgery for massive weight loss was 262 pounds with Body Mass Index of 37.

During the consultation for Plastic Surgery with an Association of South Bay Plastic Surgeon, he complained of his pannus which caused a constant rash in his pubic area. He also did not like his bulging tummy because it made him feel fat.

In the operating room while the patient was asleep the General Surgeon repaired the ventral hernia.

Following the hernia repair, the abdominoplasty was performed by two Association of South Bay Plastic Surgeons working as a team. The skin and subcutaneous tissues were separated from the abdominal muscles. The abdominal muscles were tightened. The skin of the abdomen was redrapped to his new body shape. Almost 5 pounds of excess skin and fat were removed. The belly-button was relocated to the proper position. The incision was closed with all the sutures placed under the skin and special glue.

The patient was delighted with his post-operative appearance.
