Abdominoplasty, After Massive Weight Loss Before & After Photos

This 57 year old male, 3 years after an open gastric-bypass requested a massive weight loss reconstructive consultation with an Association of South Bay Plastic Surgeon.

The patient is 6 feet 1 inch tall and his weight before gastric bypass was 545 pounds with a Body Mass Index of 72. He lost 320 lbs over the next three years and his weight stabilized at 225 pounds and with a Body Mass Index of 30.

The patient suffered continuously from uncomfortable rashes under his abdominal pannus. The patient desired to improve the shape of his abdomen and back. After a discussion of the alternatives and risks of surgery with an Association of South Bay Plastic Surgeon the patient elected to have an extended abdominoplasty with a belt lipectomy (also known as a circumferential body lift).

In the operating room while the patient was asleep, two South Bay Plastic Surgeons working as a team removed the excess skin and subcutaneous tissue from his abdomen and back. His abdominal wall was tightened with sutures and his belly-button was repositioned. The patient was then placed on his stomach and a belt lipectomy was performed. This removed skin plus excess tissue from his back and it also lifted his outer thighs and buttocks.

The patient was very pleased with the results of his extended abdominoplasty and belt lipectomy. He could fit into normal clothes for the first time in his adult life. He was very happy and eager to proceed with the next stage of his reconstructive surgery after massive weight.
